New 2017 Lincoln MKX

2017 Lincoln MKX Overview

  • Two V-6 options: a 3.7-liter and a 2.7-liter EcoBoost
  • Standard 8-inch multimedia touchscreen
  • High-end Black Label trim level available
The 2017 Lincoln MKX is a mid-size luxury SUV that seats 5 passengers. It competes with the Cadillac XT5, Lexus RX 350, and Acura RDX. This year, it remains largely unchanged.

Four trims are available: the Premiere, Select, Reserve, and Black Label.

The MKX retains Lincoln’s signature winged grille. The body lines are sleek and minimalistic. At the rear, the MKX features a taillight cluster design that stretches across the liftgate. LED taillights, a dual pipe exhaust system, and heated/powered side mirrors come standard. HID headlights, LED daytime running lights, power/heated side mirrors with turn signal indicators, and a hands-free power liftgate are also available.

Under the hood, the MKX is powered by a standard 300-hp, 3.7-liter V-6, but the exciting option is the new 335-hp, 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 that offers more power and better fuel economy. Both engines are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive (FWD) or optional all-wheel drive (AWD). Fuel efficiency ratings for the 3.6-liter models are an EPA-estimated 17/25 mpg city/highway (FWD) and 16/23 mpg (AWD). The ratings improve to 18/25 mpg (FWD) and 17/24 mpg (AWD) for the 2.7-liter models.

Inside, the MKX has a premium leatherette interior with a 60/40 split-folding rear seat. The center stack features the standard SYNC 3 multimedia system that includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity for phone and audio, and USB ports. It can be upgraded with an integrated navigation system and a Revel premium audio system. Standard features include power/heated front seats, remote vehicle start, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and active noise control. Venetian leather upholstery, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a rear dual-screen entertainment system are optional as well.

Standard safety features include a backup camera and an SOS-post crash response alert system. Available features include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, a blindspot monitoring system, rear cross traffic alert, a 360-degree camera system, and an array of sensors for automatic parking systems that can parallel park, perpendicular park, and even steer you out of a parking spot.
